Cleaning/Hygiene

Good oral hygiene is very important in keeping the teeth and gums clean and healthy. Brushing and flossing twice a day can go a long way in preventing a lot of dental problems in the future. However, even these practices aren’t enough.  This is why we at Fairfield Dental Group always encourage our patients to get professional dental cleaning at least every 6 months.

Dental Cleaning Procedure

When you come to our office for your appointment, we will check your teeth for plaque, tartar and cavities. Plaque is the clear and sticky layer on your teeth that is made up of bacteria. Over time, it will harden and become tartar which can cause dental problems later on. Our dental hygienist will then remove plaque and tartar using a method known as scaling. Don’t worry, all our staff are professionals and they’re very thorough and gentle with our patients.

Why You Need Regular Dental Cleanings

There are many good reasons to get professional dental cleanings at least twice a year (or more, if you have dental problems).

First, it can make your teeth brighter. The food and drinks you consume can stain your teeth and even brushing may not be enough to remove the discoloration. But after getting professional cleaning, your teeth will look noticeably whiter and cleaner.

Getting your teeth professionally cleaned regularly can also treat and prevent dental problems from occuring. Our staff can check for any early signs of teeth or gum problems so that the appropriate treatment can be given before it gets worse. Untreated periodontal problems, for example, can loosen the affected tooth, causing it to fall out.

Regular cleaning can also keep your breath fresh. Bad breath, medically known as halitosis, is often caused by bacteria in the mouth. Getting your teeth cleaned in our office ensures there are no bacteria buildup in your mouth thereby preventing bad breath.

Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping your teeth and mouth clean, and one of its key requirements is getting professional dental cleaning regularly.

Our objective is to take care of our patients by providing them the best dental treatments and solutions possible, and at the same time making sure that everyone understands how important it is to follow proper oral hygiene practices.

When you have clean and healthy teeth, you will feel more confident every time you smile or speak. You will also feel healthier overall.
